The Russian representation of eBay, together with the charitable company BuySocial, have launched a new store for social goods. Now, products from 12 social entrepreneurs can be ordered from anywhere in the world.

The list of organisations includes enterprises from Moscow, St Petersburg, Chuvashia, Ekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk oblast. In this section you can choose from typical Russian products: home-made jam, rosebay tea, string bags, posters with intricate wooden carvings and even knitted mittens from grandmothers in rural provinces. All the products are handmade from ecologically pure materials.

Anyone can order ceramic crockery from the artistic collective Krug, which trains and gives work to people with visual and hearing impairments. The company Cocco Bello creates working places in rural provinces and helps inhabitants in villages, JewelGirls supports care home leavers and young mothers, and “Letaiushy zvery” transfer their profit into the AdVita foundation to treat people with cancer.

The list of goods and their manufacturers will be joined in the near future by a few more companies. Vendors in this section will not have to pay any commission for selling their goods on eBay.

BuySocial is the first platform in Russia to bring together products from social entrepreneurs. These are unique, original and quality items, created by people with disabilities, elderly people in rural areas, care home leavers and individuals from other vulnerable groups. The profit from the goods on BuySocial go to charities and environmental protection projects.

“Globally, eBay supports more than 50,000 different charitable foundations, NGOs and social entrepreneurs, through collecting donations directly via the market place, as well as supporting the sale of goods without commission from such organisations, such as BuySocial. In 2017 alone, more than 80 million dollars were collected for charitable activities, and in total since 2003 – more than 800 million. We hope that the BuySocial project will become an example for other social entrepreneurs and charitable funds from Russia, to sell their goods on eBay across the whole world, in order to support and develop their business, the General Director of eBay in Russia and Developing Markets in Europe, Ilya Kretov, said.

The advantage for social enterprises is that they can achieve a stylish and quality production via the BuySocial shop, where Russian goods can be bought by people anywhere in the world.
