St Petersburg’s legislative assembly has
approved a new law on supporting NGOs

On
5 June according to Delovoi Peterburg (St Petersburg Business) the assembly
approved the Support for Socially Oriented NGOs Bill at its third reading. The
new bill provides for ways of making support available to these NGOs in the
areas of finance, property, information handling, access to advice and
organisation. The bill also indicates the kind of priority aims which would
attract subsidies. In 2013 socially oriented NGOs in St Petersburg are to
receive subsidies from the federal budget amounting to 45 million roubles on a
competitive basis.
