Applications for state awards in the field of human rights and charity are being accepted until 10 February

A prize of 2.5 million roubles is to be awarded to philanthropists and human rights advocates who have engaged in proactive and valuable activities that focus on protecting human and civil rights, strengthening and developing civil institutions, promoting charity culture, patronage and volunteering or providing grant aid to those in need.

The award was established in 2015. Over the years, prize winners have included the director of Fair Aid organisation, Elizaveta Glinka (Dr. Liza), chairwoman of the Moscow Helsinki Group, Lyudmila Alekseeva, actor Konstantin Khabensky, who also founded a charity to help children with cancer, and chief priest Alexander Tkachenko, who founded the first children’s hospice in Russia.

Applications for the award began in November 2020. Submissions must be sent to the Commissioner of Human Rights in Russia before the closing date of 10 February, 2021.
