Telemedicine to be available all over Russia
15.05.2018
Every citizen of Russia will be able to receive round-the-clock medical consultations by telephone at any time in any region, announced Veronika Skvortsova, the Minister of Health for the Russian Federation.
“Before the end of the year, we will have completed the vertical integration of the telemedical system, which will operate from 22 national medical centres, according to their specialism, to tertiary care services in the regions – there are about 300 of these,” Veronika Skvortsova told RIA Novosti.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on telemedicine in July 2017. The law came into force on 1 January 2018. Since then, medical help should be available in Russia through use of telemedical technology in the form of consultations and group sessions. With the help of telemedicine, doctors will be able to coordinate remotely between themselves, with patients or their legal representatives, and also carry out remote monitoring of their patients’ health.
