TI appeal against ‘foreign agent’ law rejected
Russia’s Constitutional Court rejects an appeal from “Transparency International (Russia)

The appeal from the Anti-Corruption Research and Initiatives Centre “Transparency International (Russia) against the “foreign agents” law has been rejected.
In April 2013, Transparency International (Russia) was warned that the Public Prosecutor had decided that the organisation had been involved in political activity. Moscow’s City Court subsequently agreed with the Zamoskvorechye District Court in upholding the Public Prosecutor’s ruling on this particular case. This decision was then referred to the Federation’s Constitutional Court for further consideration.
The outcome of Transparency International’s (Russia) appeal against the violation of constitutional rights and freedoms by the “foreign agents” law has been published on the Constitutional Court’s website. The Court rejected the organisation’s appeal to discuss the matter further, explaining that the law had been deemed constitutional in April 2014.
At the same time, the Court ruled that the legal enforcement of the Transparency International (Russia) decision is subject to revision, should it not conform to constitutional and legal implications laid down in the Court’s April ruling.
