Winners of prizes for company volunteering in the Urals
Ekaterinburg, 14.07.2016
A presentation of Expert-Ural magazine’s “Top of the Form” prize in the “Hand of a Friend” category was made at the Innoprom 2016 Industrial Trade Fair exhibition during an international conference on “Developing global volunteerism: civilisation codes”. This prize is awarded annually to companies which have achieved conspicuous success in the charity sector. For the 2015 prize, experts evaluated corporate volunteer projects and best practice operated by Ural companies.
“For the Pipe Metallurgical Company (PMC) and the Sinara charity, which undertakes charitable work for PMC factories and companies operating in the Ural Federal District, winning this prize is an affirmation of our commitment to social policies, as well as the dedication of our colleagues to universal corporate values”, said Natalya Levitskaya, President of Sinara.
At present, around 4,000 PMC company staff are involved in voluntary work. The most popular projects for the volunteers are those that provide help to child orphans and children from dysfunctional families, as well as young patients with brain cancer in regional children’s clinical hospital No.1.
The announcement of the nominees and prize winner was preceded by a large annual survey of corporate charitable work in the Ural and Western Siberian region, conducted by the Expert-Ural analytical centre in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Those taking part in the survey included leading companies from the Ural energy, financial and industrial sectors which have carried out a variety of volunteer programmes with large-scale involvement from company employees.
According to Dmitry Tolmachev, Director both of the Expert-Ural analytical centre and the Higher School of Economic Management at the Ural Federal University, the expert panel, comprising more than 30 people from State agencies, industry associations, NGOs, science and education, cast the most votes to PMC for introducing volunteering practices in its companies.
The “Top of the Form” prize was introduced in 2010 by the Expert-Ural magazine in partnership with the audit and consultative network of PwC companies. The “Hand of a Friend” category for company and regional involvement in resolving social issues has become one of the main components of culture and traditions.
The Sinara charity undertakes charitable work for a number of large firms and businesses in the Sverdlovsk oblast, namely PMC, Seversk and Sinara pipe factories, the Sinara group, Sinara Transport Machines and SKB Bank. Sinaria also carries out socially important long-term charitable work in the areas of health, education, culture and sport in the Sverdlovsk oblast, as well as supporting non-profit and public organisations in the region.
